Canine Assisted Therapy

The positive effects dogs can have on people has been realised for years and so more recently, dogs have become increasingly popular in different therapy settings. Canine Assisted Therapy has been found to decrease stress and anxiety, feelings of fear or worry, and perceptions of pain. It has also been found to increase motivation, focus, stimulation, and feelings of social connectedness and support.

Our Canine Assisted Therapy program will work to support you to build your communication skills, confidence, and to learn healthy ways to regulate your emotions. This in turn, may result in you being more empathetic, assertive, and having better social skills that help you to develop better relationships, and to live a happier and healthier life.

Canine Assisted Therapy sessions are conducted in the natural environment or in your home all year round. At Peaceful Paddocks Wellness Services, we work in a collaborative way and so I will work with you and you will be invited to attend a 45-minute consultation with me during which we will discuss your needs, goals, and our program.

During your first Canine Assisted Therapy session you will learn about Fonzi, and how to be safe around him. This will set you up to feel comfortable and happy during your sessions, where you can focus on building skills that will help you to reach your personal goals. The focus of your first Canine Assisted Therapy session will be on building a trusting and honest relationship with Fonzi and me. I will work with you to develop session plans that are based entirely on what you want to achieve.
